Hamilton Becomes F1s Greatest Driver in History

Lewis Hamilton has officially become the most dominating & successful driver in Formula One history, holding more Grand Prix victories than any other driver in 70 years. The Mercedes AMG-Petronas champion obtained his 92nd Grand Prix victory during the Portuguese Grand Prix at Algarve Circuit. It was an eventful race that saw Hamilton struggle initially & then find the exceptional pace to dominate over the lead position.

The opening lap held drama that had supporters gripping onto their seats. Lewis Hamilton started from pole position but dropped down quickly, not being able to locate grip needed to sustain downforce speeds. Teammate Valtteri Bottas & McLaren’s Carlos Sainz overtook Hamilton unexpectedly, with Sainz than overcoming Bottas to obtain P1 for six laps. Inevitably the tides would turn & Hamilton began gaining heat into his medium tyres.

Both Valtteri Bottas & Lewis Hamilton quickly overtook Carlos Sainz from McLaren after obtaining heat into their Medium Tyres. Bottas would sustain the lead for a short period for Lap 20, where Lewis Hamilton would overtake his teammate & hold first place 46 Laps. The exception to his lead was pitting, with the first position regained a lap later for Hamilton. The subsequent result of Lewis Hamilton winning the Portuguese Grand Prix is overtaking Michael Schumacher as the highest-ranking driver in F1 history.

Race Results for P3 to P10

Lewis Hamilton wasn’t the exclusively individual that obtained notable points during the Portuguese Grand Prix. For other drivers like Max Verstappen, Sergio Perez, Pierre Gasly, Carlos Sainz, Charles Leclerc, and Sebastian Vettel the race was also eventful. Max Verstappen was able to regain 3rd position after losing multiple placements during the first lap, with Charles Leclerc following behind Verstappen in P4 for Scuderia Ferrari. It marks two back-to-back P4s for Charles Leclerc & the highest results that Scuderia Ferrari has seen in 2020.

Pierre Gasly from AlphaTauri impressed the entire Formula One Paddock, obtaining P5 by the final 66th lap of the Portuguese Grand Prix. Carlos Sainz followed with P6 & Sergio Perez in P7. Esteban Ocon & Daniel Ricciardo from Renault Racing respectively obtained P8 to P9. Sebastian Vettel from Scuderia Ferrari would finish the top ten placements in P10.
